A faith taught at home

Transmit faith in everyday life: a legacy that starts at home and reaches generations.

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

Today’s message

I look at Timothy and ask you the same question: are we preparing our children just to live in this world, or are we teaching our children to have experiences in the ways of the Lord? Paul does not praise wealth, diplomas, or achievements. He celebrates a heritage: the sincere faith that passed from Lois to Eunice and reached Timothy. This is what I want to ignite in your heart today. Heritage puts something in hands; legacy inserts something in the heart. And nothing surpasses a heart marked by a living faith at home.

Timothy's faith did not arise on a stage, but in the living room at home. I believe this and have sought to live it. When I open 2 Timothy 3:14-15, I see a boy who has known the Scriptures from an early age and finds wisdom for salvation in them. Before he cooperated with Paul, someone dedicated themselves to forming a path in him. You can be that someone. God wants to use your home as a small seminar of love, obedience, repentance, and hope.

Faith needs to be seen before it is taught.

How can I do this?

  1. Through prayer — I pray with the children and teach them to talk to God.
  2. Through the word — we read Bible stories and talk about what God has done.
  3. Through examples — consistency in crises, asking for forgiveness, practicing reconciliation.
  4. Through service — encouraging helping, sharing, and acting with compassion.
  5. Through dialogue — welcoming questions and returning to Scripture with patience.

Faith needs to be seen before it is taught. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 calls us to insert the Word into the routine: sitting, walking, lying down, getting up. It is not a sporadic event; it is a daily path. It is James 1:22 in practice: not just hearing, but living. I decided to do this at home and have seen God touch mine. When we plant the Word in everyday life, the Holy Spirit waters it with real experiences.

Places and moments to teach (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

  1. Sitting in your house — table, sofa, dishes: common life watered by the Word.
  2. Walking along the way — on the way, in the street, connect facts with biblical truths.
  3. Lying down and getting up — farewells and new beginnings marked by simple prayer.

Now, declare life over yours. Romans 4:17 reminds us to call into existence what God has promised: my child will be filled with the Holy Spirit. Place your hand on their head and bless them. Ephesians 3:20 assures that God can do more than we think. And keep this in mind: no victory outside justifies the ruin of your family inside the home. Start today. Let’s practice at home what we learned in church.
