Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. And He said, 'I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

Today’s message
I want to ask you some questions. Have you ever thought that you might be saying no to God? Have you ever thought that your life would be further along if you stopped resisting? These nos mix with traumas, guilt, and old stories. It was like that with Moses. And that’s why I open this topic: the nos that delay your life. Not to shame you, but to free you. I myself know this ground. When I trembled before my first audience, when I revisited my adoption, when I wrote, God showed me where I was saying no. He wants to show you too.
In the burning bush, God called Moses by name. Holy ground. Sandal on the ground. A presence that burns but does not consume. There, God presented Himself as the God of the whole story and touched the broken story of a man. Moses carried palace and desert, error and flight. He carried questions: Who am I? The calling did not ignore any of that, but it also did not bow to any of that. The God who sees us in the desert calls us to free a generation, starting with our own soul.
The Nos That Delay Your Life
- No of distorted identity: Who am I? Past, guilt, and flight become chains that define too much.
- No of comparison: sends the other person away. Comparing is a result of fragile identity and steals growth.
- No of limitations: I am not eloquent. God does not require performance; He promises to be your mouth.
God does not consult your past to determine your future.
Notice how the three nos feed each other. Wounded identity pushes you to comparison. Comparison highlights limitation. Limitation ignites fear. And fear whispers that it’s better to shrink. God interrupts this cycle at the bush: I am. He shifts the focus from who you are not to who He is. Healing begins when we take off the sandals of old narratives and recognize: here God speaks, here God sends, here God sustains.
How to Respond Today
- Deconstruct lies from the past in light of the Word: God knows you from the womb.
- Exchange comparison for gratitude: celebrate the gift God has given you, without imitating anyone.
- Surrender limitations at the altar: availability before eloquence; obedience before perfection.
- Seek help and community: personal prayer, confession, and pastoral/psychological care when necessary.
I want you to name your no. Say clearly where you have resisted. Repent of it and rise up. God does not consult your past to determine your future. He saw Moses in the basket, in the palace, in the crime, in the desert, and yet said: I will be with you. The same God is before you. Make yourself available. He transforms fear into courage, limitation into a sign, desert into sending. And a generation is touched when you say yes.
