Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” — “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Today’s message
I know you have a story. I have one too. But there are stories we need to let go to build the next one. David studied the harp for years, and when God called, he let go of that craft to lead battles. Joseph ruled with or without a throne. Those with purpose act, they don't wait for applause. I want to lead you to a simple and hard decision: your victory is in letting go. It's not a modern idea; it's an ancient path. What brought you here may not take you forward. Following Jesus starts by letting go of what binds us.
In Luke 9, Jesus does not promise comfort. He says He has nowhere to lay His head. Then, He confronts legitimate excuses: mourning, farewells, household matters. And He states: whoever looks back is not fit for the kingdom. Paul reinforces: “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” Job shows us the extreme: naked I came, and naked I shall return; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. The point is clear: use what God has given you, but do not become a slave. The calling requires light hands.
Three non-negotiable let-goes to move forward
- Material things: use them well, but do not worship. Clinging to things enslaves you.
- Old emotions: forgive. Bitterness, offense, and vanity delay your calling.
- People and places: when they prevent you from obeying Christ, let go and obey.
Your victory is in letting go.
God does not despise what you have learned. He just does not allow it to become an idol. Ruth left Moab and found Boaz. David left the harp and sat on the throne. Jesus crossed cities without a fixed home to fulfill the mission in a short time. Sometimes you studied something for ten, fifteen years. It was preparation, not imprisonment. Geography is destiny when God commands a change. Titles pass. Followers fade away. Your children do not need your resume; they need your time and your whole heart.
How to practice letting go today
- React with self-control to material losses; a vase and a car are not worth more than people.
- Trade audience for faithfulness: do what is right without expecting applause.
- Put forgiveness first: those who do not forgive do not advance.
- Take a concrete step of obedience: apply, change, give, disconnect.
- Review where you invest money and time; use it, do not bind yourself.
I do not romanticize poverty nor demonize prosperity. I teach priority. Have what you can, but have it to serve. If something, someone, or a beautiful past prevents the next step, let go. Jesus is calling you. Hands on the plow, eyes forward. Let go of those who hurt you, those who tried to bring you down. The victory you seek is just after this clean cut. Shall we go together? Today we decide: use, forgive, obey. And follow without looking back.
