The Secret of Wisdom: Knowing When to Be Silent and Save

In an environment of misunderstanding, I follow God's timing, let go of the stones, and choose to save.

Today’s passage

So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” [...] She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.

John 8:7,11WEB

Today’s message

How to live in an environment of misunderstanding. John 7 shows me Jesus reading the scene, not the applause. The brothers pressure: 'Go, show yourself.' I respond with Him: 'My time has not yet come, but for you any time is suitable.' When I choose God's timing, I do not flee out of fear; I protect those I love. Jesus thinks the opposite of those who think the opposite of Him. He does not return evil for evil. People try to push you into risk, onto the stage, into confrontation. You don’t need to. Walk with purpose. Obey the right time. This preserves and teaches.

The conversation about Jesus is heated: everyone has an opinion. No one understands because He sees value where no one else does. In this atmosphere, we arrive at John 8: a woman dragged, humiliated, used as bait. The law on their lips, stones in their hands. I see the Master kneel, write on the ground, and silence the uproar. When He stands up, He releases the phrase that disarms the crowd: let him who is without sin throw the first stone. One by one, they leave. What remains is what matters: Jesus and the wounded person.

Between repentance and remorse, there is an abyss. The pain of repentance drives you to move forward, and the pain of remorse drives you to give up. Jesus does not feed remorse; He opens the way for a new beginning: Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more. This does not sweep things under the rug. This calls things by name and points to a future. If you are not dead yet, there is someone who can give you life. It is the Gospel: truth without stones, grace with direction. Salvation, not condemnation.

We are agents of salvation, we are messengers from heaven to bring hope to people.

How to Respond to Misunderstanding

  1. Wait for God's timing, not the pressure of others.
  2. Protect people, even when they disagree with you.
  3. Before judging, listen and verify; Nicodemus reminds us of this.
  4. Let go of the stones: no one here is without sin.
  5. Choose to save, not to condemn; grace points to a new path.

I want to call you: we are agents of salvation, messengers from heaven to bring hope to people. Let us remove the stones from our hands and extend our empty hands in appearance, but full of love and respect for our brothers. At work, at home, on the street: less crossed responses, more presence that heals. When someone tries to turn you into what hurt you, do not accept that discipleship. Do the opposite. Take Jesus' place in the scene: firmness in truth, and clean hands to lift up those who have fallen.
